The Fine Print
Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don’t, and exactly who your information is shared with. Written in plain English.
Effective Date: February 10, 2026 · Privacy disclosures updated October 14, 2026
Faith In The Fields ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website and application at faithinthefields.com (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account or use our Service:
- Account Information: Email address, first and last name, and password when you register. Passwords are stored as salted hashes, not readable passwords.
- Profile Information: Optional details you provide, including a display name, profile photo, city and state, bio, spouse name, birthday, and anniversary date. Uploaded profile photos are stored at a public image URL; only upload a photo you are comfortable sharing.
- Prayer Requests: Content you submit through the Prayer Journal feature, including prayers you choose to share with the community.
- User-Generated Content: Verse notes, highlights, saved verses, journal entries, sermon drafts, and study requests you save or submit within the app.
- Payment Information: Website subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions purchased in the iPhone app are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate Apple purchases, restore subscriptions, and keep subscription access in sync with your Faith In The Fields account. Your account identifier and purchase history are processed for these purposes and for subscription reporting. We do not receive or store your full payment card details from these providers.
- Usage Data: Reading history, streak data, achievement and game progress, quiz scores, and feature usage. We save progress to provide app features and record signed-in activity, such as app opens and completed games, with your account identifier to understand how the Service is used.
- Diagnostics: App error messages and the affected file and line may be recorded with your account identifier to identify and fix problems.
- Push Notifications: If you enable iPhone push notifications, we send a device push token and platform information to our server. The token may be associated with your signed-in account so we can deliver notifications to your device.
- Sponsor Reporting: The free experience may show sponsor banners. For signed-in users, we record banner views and clicks with the sponsor identifier, placement, and account identifier to measure sponsor activity.
- Questions Submitted: If you submit a question through the Common Questions feature, we collect the question text and your user ID.
- Support and Content Reports: If you contact us for help, we receive the contact details and information you choose to send. An in-app community report records your account identifier, the reported post and the report reason so we can review it.
- Scripture Lookups: Bible reading requests are sent to bible.helloao.org, and Bible search terms are sent to bolls.life to find matching verses. These services receive the requested reference or search text and normal network information, such as your IP address. Avoid putting private information into a Bible search.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Personalize your experience (e.g., greeting you by name, tracking your reading streak, showing your reading history)
- Process website subscriptions through Stripe and iPhone subscriptions through Apple, using RevenueCat to validate Apple purchases, restore access, and manage subscription status
- Send you daily verse emails if you opt in to this feature
- Send you account-related communications (password resets, subscription confirmations)
- Generate AI-powered Bible study content (verse explanations, stories, study materials) tailored to your requests
- Display community prayer requests (only those you explicitly choose to share)
- Monitor and improve the quality and accuracy of our AI-generated content
- Deliver notifications you enable, troubleshoot app errors, understand feature usage, and measure sponsor banner activity
3. AI-Generated Content
Our Service uses artificial intelligence to generate Bible study content including verse explanations, biblical stories, figure biographies, sermon outlines, deep study analyses, and daily devotionals. When you request AI-generated content:
- Your request (such as a verse reference or topic) is sent to our AI processing provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), to generate the content. You can review Anthropic’s Privacy Policy to see how they handle data.
- We do not automatically add your account name, email address, saved notes, or prayer journal entries to AI requests. In Sermon Builder, the topic, selected verses, optional personal stories, key points, audience and format you submit are shared with Anthropic. Those fields may contain personal information you enter; leave out any details you do not want to share. Versions with an AI-sharing permission control ask for permission before each request, and you can decline without sending it. Older versions may send these fields when you select the search or generate action.
- Shared study explanations may be cached in our database for reuse. Saved sermons and your personal notes are account-specific and are not part of the shared Deep Study library.
- The shared verse explanation itself is not personalized. Your usage of study features and any studies you save may still be linked to your account for access limits, saved content and progress.
- We do not use your personal information, prayer requests, or journal entries to train AI models.
4. Data Storage and Security
We use Supabase to host account and app data. We use the following protections:
- All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords are hashed and salted — we cannot see your password
- Authentication and database access rules restrict access to account data. Content you choose to share with the community is visible to others; authorized service and moderation functions also process data to operate the Service.
- Payment details are handled by Stripe for website purchases and Apple for iPhone purchases. RevenueCat processes subscription records; our servers do not store your full payment card details.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Supabase: Hosts account information, saved app content, usage records, uploaded images and subscription access records, and provides authentication.
- Email Delivery: We use Resend to send service emails. It processes recipient email addresses and message contents, which can include account notices, devotional content and community prayer notifications where enabled.
- Bible and Search Services: bible.helloao.org supplies Bible text and bolls.life supplies search results. Requests go directly from your device to these services as described above. Links to YouVersion, YouTube, Spotify and other external sites open the selected service, whose own privacy policy applies.
- Stripe: Your email and subscription information is shared with Stripe to process website payments. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Apple and RevenueCat: Apple processes purchases made through the iPhone app. RevenueCat processes your account identifier and purchase history to validate purchases, support restoration, manage subscription access, and provide subscription reporting. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic: Scripture references and study topics are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate study content. For Sermon Builder, this also includes any personal stories and other drafting details you submit, as described in Section 3. We do not automatically attach your account name, email address, saved notes, or prayer journal entries.
- Community Features: If you choose to share a prayer request with the community, other users will see the prayer text and your profile name. Your email address is not displayed to other users.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request.
The Service may display sponsor banners. We record the views and clicks described above within our own reporting system. Banner selection is based on placement availability and scheduling, rather than activity collected from other companies’ apps or websites. Clicking a sponsor link opens the sponsor’s website, where that website’s privacy policy applies.
6. Email Communications
We may send you the following types of emails:
- Account emails: Welcome emails, password reset requests, and subscription confirmations. These are necessary for the Service to function.
- Daily Verse emails: A daily verse and reflection sent to your inbox. You must opt in to receive these, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or through your profile settings.
We will never send you unsolicited marketing emails or share your email with third-party marketers.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser or app storage to keep you signed in, remember settings such as your theme, preserve your reading place, and keep local progress or drafts. Some signed-in content also syncs to your account. We do not use cookies to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising. Account-linked usage and sponsor activity are recorded as described in Section 1.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete that information.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: View your personal information in the Profile section of the app.
- Update your data: Edit your profile information at any time through the app.
- Delete your data: In the app, open Profile > Personal > Account > Delete Account to request deletion, or contact us at the email below. The in-app flow explains the 30-day waiting period and how to reactivate before cleanup begins. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple-billed subscription.
- Export your data: Request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
- Cancel your subscription: Manage website subscriptions through your profile on faithinthefields.com. Manage Apple-billed subscriptions in Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your Apple device. You will continue to have access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. Deleting the app or your Faith In The Fields account does not cancel an Apple-billed subscription.
10. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as payment transaction records). Stripe, Apple, and RevenueCat may retain records they process under their respective policies and legal obligations.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact Us
